DARKCORP (formerly known as cIOSCORP) for the Nintendo Wii allows you to load backup games directly from the Disc Channel exactly the same way you would load normal game discs.
This may not work with newer Nintendo Wii’s (unless you change the drive) as they simply cannot read DVD Discs.
The benefits of DARKCORP is the fact you do not have to open the console to chip it before you can play backup games, you simply install DARKCORP and that’s it.
Below you will find full install instructions, changes in the v1.1 release and a link to download DARKCORP.
Installing DARKCORP v1.1 on your Wii
- Firstly you need to download DARKCORP v1.1 you can get it using the info at the bottom of this post.
- Extract the contents of the of the download to your SD Card keeping the file and folder structure.
- Load the Homebrew Channel and click on ‘DARKCORP v1.1 Installer’.
- Follow the Install instructions (install may take about 5 mins or more)
- Once installed turn off the Wii by holding the Power Button, this will ensure everything is loaded correctly.

All IOS have the RSA signature check removed.

DARKCORP v1.0 does not modify IOSes 4, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 22, 31, 34, 51, or 61.

hi there, i’ve just loaded this onto my moded wii 4.0E and it doesn’t load my tiger woods 2010 backup disc. It says “unable to read disc”. It loads ok from wii backup launcher but not from this one.

It’s not in the Darkcorp Compatibility List so can’t say if it should work or not.
Some loaders read discs different to others, try a different brand of disc and burn at a slower speed.

can anyone help ,my mate tried to softmod his wii with the darkcorp mod, he didnt get very far (or back his nand) now the wii wont boot up,nothing shows on the screen the power light comes on but thats it , is there any way to restore it back, thanks.
Does the Wii have Priiloader or BootMii Installed? If not its just an expensive paper weight.

Chris, is it possible to play GC backups with DARKCORP? I tried but I’m having trouble.
From what I have read, after you have installed DarkCorp you will still need a Loader to load GameCube Games.

i’ve got darkcorp v1.1 on my wii but when i go to put a backed up new game in, it says system update on the disc channel.
do u know how i could remove this.
plus when i go into NeoGamma, they load up then i get an error 001.
My old backed up games seem to work from the disc channel it just the new ones,such as Red Steel 2, Sega All Stars Racing and Mario Galaxy 2.
i burn the games onto a maxell DVD-R at 4x speed.
The old backups still work and so do original games,just new backed up ones don’t.

Not sure about NeoGamma as I have never used it but as for the newer games asking to update you need to install Priiloader to block the updates.

hi chris, have been playing successfully tiger woods 11, wii sports resort and now instead of showing the disc it says “Wii System Update” if you want to play this game you’ll have to update your wii??? have you come accross anything like this?
Do you have Priiloader installed? and have you double checked the Hacks are still enabled?
i’ve checked yesterday, i don’t have priiloader installed i dont think. my wii is a 4.0e softmoded. Can i still install it now? the link you gave above to “Mubashar” is any good for me or just for wii 4.2?

OK Download Priiloader from here: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Preloader/Priiloader and install through the homebrew channel.
Scroll down and find the PAL 4.0 Hacks on this page: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Preloader/hacks then save them them them in a file called hacks.ini and copy to the root of the SD Card.
Then enable the hacks in Priiloader.

I’ve got DC1.1 installed as per your tutorial. Was unclear as to what option to install so I used (regular method) on the choices menu. Everything seemed to install great, the Wii even rebooted itself. But nothing happens, I can’t get any backup games to play. Even games on the ‘tested’ list. Is it safe to try to reinstall… or do I have to uninstall then reinstall? Is it even safe to uninstall? Sorry for the 20 questions… hope you can help.

@ Eric – You can just re-install DarkCorp over the top of itself, don’t worry about un-installing, select the option for Virgin Wii. Make sure you are using high quality discs and burn them at the slowest speed possible.
@ Mubashar – Sadly I don’t have a shop or anything, try re-softmodding you wii following my guide. When are you getting the 001 errors?

I go to the disc channel,the game shows up but when i press start the screens goes black and i get,
‘Error #001,
unauthorized device has been detected.’
the screen freezes and i have to switch it off from the main plug.
Old backups such as super paper mario and no more heroes work from the disc channel but backups of new games such as super mario galaxy 2 and red steel 2 give out that error.

Did you re-install DarkCorp after you re-softmodded your Wii? You will need to do this for all games to work.
I have softmodded my Wii to play through USB Loader and Neo Gamma. Can I still install this Cioscorp so that I can play my back up game through Disc Channel? Will this cause any conflict to my current system?
Yep should work fine. I know a few people who have done this.

No you should be fine as you have Priiloader installed.
In future, if I need to install Darkcorp v.1.1 on a new Wii V4.2U, I can just install this, as long as the DVD drive chip is not D3-2 or D-4, right? And it should let me play any region game…is that correct? Also can you tell me if hacks.ini is needed for priiloader? I am a bit confused as to what is the need for including hacks.ini when installing priiloader.
Also any idea if Hacksmii Installer v.0.7 is needed in this case?
Is this the “DARKCORP v1.1 Full Installer”? If not, where can I get one so that it can play Game Cube games as well.
Yes you just need to install the Homebrew Channel, Priiloader and then DarkCorp (as long as drive is not D3-2 or D-4).
It will not play games from another region as the 4.2 firmware blocks this.
Yes the hacks.ini file is needed as it contains all the hacks that show up on the Priiloader Hacks Screen. If using DarkCorp you need to make sure you enable the “Block Disc Updates” and “Block Online Updates” this will stop updates from the disc being installed (which will overwrite the softmod files).
You can also use the new v0.7 HackMii installer on 4.2 with no problems.

After installing Darkcorp, I should not have problem loading games through the USB, right? I just wanted to make sure that it does not cause any issue. Sorry if I ask too many questions here. Also, if I ever wants to load my back up from Neogamma, it should still be working, right?
I also have installed this ioses when softmodding my Wii:
-ios202, for usb – using ios38 (needed for USB2.0 support at Media Players)
-ios222, for uloader – using ios38 (needed for USB support of instruments and stuff)
-ios223 mainly for GH5 – using ios38 merged with 37 (same as above)
Will the Darkcorp overwrite these ioses?
No all games should work fine (it does for me). DarkCorp should have all the lastest IOS files included and if they are not your existing ones will not be removed.
Hey chris posted on other section about this about needing an IOS for a game. I am using optical for dragonball z bk3 which is stated that it needs IOS 21 an older IOS for 3rd party games according to this (using darkcorp 1.1) IOS21 = IOS53 v5149 with rev17 DIP. Could this be my problem? would downloading IOS 21 fix or just cause problems with darkcorp or cause some kind of confliction?

@ Joe – I think it may cause problems with DarkCorp, have you tried just running the game?

If anything goes wrong after installing Darkcorp, can I always uninstall it and my Wii will be at the state just before the Darkcorp was installed?
If something goes wrong it may not un-install correctly, at the end of the day there is always a risk but not very common.
Chris: Do you think I can use Priiloader to bring it back to its virgin state if something goes wrong after the installation? I have my NAND and bootmi saved in my pc.
Also so far, what are the common problems with installing Darkcorp v1.1 that you know of?
You use BootMii not Priiloader, you can only take it back to the state of the nand backup. There are no common problems, as long as you have a nand backup you should be fine.

I’m a noob to this…I do not have a usb loader, only play from disc.I was having problems with rock band instruments syncing so I jumped the gun and installed darkcorp v1.1. I’m actually pleased since all of my instrument work now. Loading backup discs from the disc channel is also cool. My concern now is that I did not protect my wii in any way. No Nand backup, priiloader etc. What would you recommend at this point?
