Windows 7 has given us some great new features and performance enhancements, I am pretty sure no one would disagree with this. But as with all new operating systems they need to be tweaked to the users preferences.
One of the things which really annoys me is the pop-up message that appears almost every time I install something, asking if the program installed correctly. Not to worry though as it can soon be disabled.
Following these simple steps will disable the pop-up from showing. It is pretty easy to follow and you can enable the pop-up again in the future if you really want to.
Firstly if you are not sure about the pop-up I am talking about, here is the screen shot:

Right so if you want disable this annoying pop-up firstly make sure you are running Windows 7 as it will not show up in any other OS. Then follow the steps below:
- Open the Windows services configuration by typing services.msc in the start menu run box. You should be presented with the following screen:

- Locate the Program Compatibility Assistant Service in the window and double-click it to open its properties.
- Click on the Stop Button, this will stop the service in the current session.
- Then change the startup type from manual to disabled this will prevent that the service is started after system restarts.
- Make sure you click Apply to save the settings.
- That’s it you have now disabled the Program Compatibility Assistant pop-up.

Nice tip, thanks. That was getting a bit annoying; should be sorted now.
Thanks, those messages annoyed me too… always interrupting me from my ferocious multitasking…
So I’m wondering if this was really the sole function of PCA… Are we going to be missing out on any actually potentially useful features?
PS: damn, that CAPTCHA was hard to read. Hope I don’t have to redo. d-:
