Installing DarkWii Black Theme on Your Nintendo Wii

Nintendo Wii SoftmodThe Nintendo Wii can be modified in so many ways already. But now there is something you can do to it which I never thought would be possible, theme the System Menu.

The install process is quite easy so if you want something new to show off to your mates then this is the mod for you.

There are other themes available out there but I was finding unfinished and buggy themes that look horrible. The DarkWii theme has been worked on and revised for months now and is finally working perfect.

You can watch the video below to see exactly what it looks like. If you have any questions please ask before trying to install.

Dark Wii Black Theme Requirements:

Please make sure you have downloaded the correct package above depending on your Wii’s region. Do NOT try and install this theme on a Wii which is not running the 4.2 System Menu as it will brick the Wii. You have been warned!

Dark Wii Black Theme Install Instructions:

  • Copy the files you have downloaded above to the SD Card, keeping the file/folder structure.
  • Insert SD Card into the Wii and run the Homebrew Channel.
  • Load MyMenuify GUI and using the D-PAD you need to navigate to the ‘themes’ Folder.
  • With the D-PAD select the file ’4.2E_DarkWii_Menu_Theme’ or ’4.2U_DarkWii_Menu_Theme’ depending on which one you downloaded and press [A] to install.
  • Once installed restart your Wii and you should now be looking at your new theme. It should look something like this:

DarkWii System Menu Theme

Please make sure you post any questions you may have below before installing this. I will do my best to help you.

Also if the download links die above let me know and I will fix as soon as I can.

So which ios do you actualy have to install to get mymenuify?i have ios 202.

  4. Chris says:

My advice to you would be to try and use menuify first before making any changes to your system.

  5. Jake@War says:

Search google for an app called NUS Downloader, then you can download it.

  9. Jake@War says:

No… No guys, you need to remove IOS 249!
This is a stub IOS that is better off being removed from the Wii.

  10. patboy says:

what about the system update 4.3e that arrived june 21?
safe to update if i have the darkwii system menu 4.2e i got from this page?
is this darkwii theme safe and bugfree for systems with system menu 4.3e?
    thanks

  11. Chris says:

DO NOT UPDATE TO 4.3 JUST YET.

It removes the homebrew channel and blocks it. It also stops a lot of homebrew apps from loading so you need to wait for homebrew updates to appear. I will post when this happens.

  12. begginerwiihacker says:

never update your wii if you have homebrew or a custom menu also if you dont update wii shop channel isnt avalible but dont worry theres a WAD file so it updates the shop channel without upgrading your wii

  13. Chris says:

Unless you are using one of the safe updater apps of course :)

Just never update using the official Nintendo Updater in the Wii Settings.

  14. begginerwiihacker says:

hey chris do you know if the yoshi wii theme is made for 4.2e PAL anywhere

  15. Chris says:

OK follow this link: http://www.consolespot.net/forums/wii-hacking-tuning-customization/24823-how-apply-wii-themes-tutorial.html for an excellent tutorial on what you want!

So I don’t have to do all the explaining!
Now this tutorial does have everything you need (even though its a little old now)…
So if you find any Yoshi theme you can make it work with your firmware…
Sorry I haven’t been able to find any Yoshi theme yet, but keep looking, shearch through youtube (I know I’ve seen it there before).

I’m currently on 4.2e PAL myself!
