The Nintendo Wii can be modified in so many ways already. But now there is something you can do to it which I never thought would be possible, theme the System Menu.
The install process is quite easy so if you want something new to show off to your mates then this is the mod for you.
There are other themes available out there but I was finding unfinished and buggy themes that look horrible. The DarkWii theme has been worked on and revised for months now and is finally working perfect.
You can watch the video below to see exactly what it looks like. If you have any questions please ask before trying to install.
Dark Wii Black Theme Requirements:
- Nintendo Wii Running System Menu 4.2E or 4.2U
- Homebrew Channel Already Installed
- Theme Pack Download: System Menu 4.2E or System Menu 4.2U
Please make sure you have downloaded the correct package above depending on your Wii’s region. Do NOT try and install this theme on a Wii which is not running the 4.2 System Menu as it will brick the Wii. You have been warned!
Dark Wii Black Theme Install Instructions:
- Copy the files you have downloaded above to the SD Card, keeping the file/folder structure.
- Insert SD Card into the Wii and run the Homebrew Channel.
- Load MyMenuify GUI and using the D-PAD you need to navigate to the ‘themes’ Folder.
- With the D-PAD select the file ‘4.2E_DarkWii_Menu_Theme’ or ‘4.2U_DarkWii_Menu_Theme’ depending on which one you downloaded and press [A] to install.
- Once installed restart your Wii and you should now be looking at your new theme. It should look something like this:

Please make sure you post any questions you may have below before installing this. I will do my best to help you.
Also if the download links die above let me know and I will fix as soon as I can.

and to restore the original theme? if only because I like
If you like this theme, there are a lot of other out on the net, but please be REALLY REALLY careful, as some of these themes are bad and can brick (semi brick) you Wii.
So if you go looking for other themes, do a little research and make sure they have been tested before hand and work on your region.
Yes that is why I went with the DarkWii theme as I know it has been tested and updated many times.
Yes. But, in case I decide restore the original theme. What I do? Where I can download the original Theme?
I will be posting a guide to restoring original theme over the next couple of days.
Hi Chris,
I think the link is not working. Any chance to get another link ? thx
Both links seem to be working fine. Just keep trying them and you should be able to download. It is because there are so many people downloading the files.
should i get priiloader before i install this?
Yes installing Priiloader first would be best.
nvm i tryed it without it and it worked thanks
Glad to hear it. Priiloader would of just given you a little more protection incase something went wrong.
Hey Chris can u get some more themes thanks
Will have a look for some more in the near future.
OK to restore the original theme you need to re-install the system menu using the System Menu .wad file for your region and Wad Manager.
How do I reinstall the System Menu.wad for 4.2U and where is it?…. =)
This program will do it. If you post up on GBAtemp.com they will tell you how to use it.
hey um for some reason my wii keeps going black on the screen whenever i try and load the app the my menuify thing and then my controller loses all connectivity to the wii and i have to shut it off and restart for it to work again any help would be greatly appreciated

You need to Re-Softmod your Wii first.

Hey Chris thanks for the links. i was just wonderin’ how did you get all your homebrew on the wii menu without having to go into the homebrew channel ?
the theme works fine except when i try to go to the wii settings it either goes to a black screen or goes to an error screen. is there any way to fix this or do you have to go back to the regular system menu?
Have you tried re-installing the theme? Also what firmware version to you have?
i have im pretty sure i have 4.2u but i cant check now. hah. i did try re installing and i also tried re modding the wii. last time i tried to go into the settings it beeped then just stayed at a black screen. its not a big problem right now but it will be if i have to change my internet settings.
ok i screwed up i think i had 4.1. i just modded my parents wii and they had 4.2. but anyways i just upgraded it to 4.2 and reinstalled the theme and it works fine now. thanx anyways.

If you re-install IOS70-64-v6687.wad and System Menu-NUS-v482.wad it should restore it.
You can get it from this package:

Hey guys, I’m new to the system menu modding, I too have been trying to get this to work, but when loading mymenufy I simply get a black screen etc…
I’ve been searching the web and found many other people have had the same problem, but I have still failed to find the solution. I suspect this may have something to do with the ios or HBC version.
Please reply!
Have you softmodded your Wii? Also are you running System Menu 4.2?
Hi, I want to restore the original Wii theme how would I go about doing that? And what would I need?
What system menu do you have? 4.2E or 4.2U?
4.2u
I followed the instruction’s but my menuify didn’t come up.Can you fix it?
@ Ricky – You need to use the latest WAD Manager 1.6 to re-install the System Menu WAD.
@ Manula – Please STOP posting the same message asking for help, I will reply when I can. What do you mean by not coming up? You need to explain in a little more detail.
thank you for your help Chris.
sorry chris what i mean is i have installed every thing i need but mymenuify didn’t come up.same thing happened to me like jake.
Do you have anything plugged into your USB Ports on the Back of the Wii? If so un-plug and try again.
I tryed again but it didn’t work.Do i need to download softmii?
You can try using SoftMii but have never used it myself so can’t help you.
Good Luck Though
I have used it but it’s no good.i don’t think i can install any themes.
chris can you tell me a good website to learn instruction’s about how to install wii themes step by step?
Have a look here:
http://www.wiihacks.com/wii-custom-software-hacks-applications/53685-theme-any-3-2-4-0-4-1-4-2-wii-thememii-mymenuify.html
If you get stuck post on that site and I am sure someone will be able to help
thanks chris.
i have a problem i want to resolve i have mymenuify 2.2 in homebrew but when i try to load it its just a black screen even my wii controll goes out more details:im using a sandosh for wii 1GB SD card and my wii is 4.2E please reply
oops typo im using a sandisk for wii 1GB
Do you have anything plugged in the USB Ports on the Wii if so try un-plugging them. I know some people had problems when things were plugged in for some reason.
Also read back through these comments as I think there was a solution to this problem that someone posted up.
OK guys I had this problem solved ages ago…
Download DOP-Mii and place the downloaded folder into the apps folder on the root of your SD Card/USB Device.
Place the SD Card/USB Device in your Wii console, load HBC/DOP-Mii.
Now I’ve done tutorials to help people with similar programs…
Anyway I cant tell you in detail how to un-install IOS249 (My little bro is using the TV)
But you’ll find your way around to un-install IOS249, once done mymenufy WILL work.
Still, If you have any more probs just post here and I’ll get back to you!
i red back and i see i need to re-soft mod my wii but i dont know how to do it
