The Homebrew Browser is a great app for the Nintendo Wii that allows you to download a wide range of homebrew applications. This means you don’t have to keep removing your SD card to plug into your computer, in fact you don’t even need to use your computer at all. How much better is that!
The Homebrew Browser downloads the applications straight from the internet to the SD card to the Wii using the Wii’s WiFi connection. Simply browse the applications, games and utilities using the Wii’s controller then simply click download. That’s it, the item will be downloaded and installed for you.
Installing the Homebrew Browser is easy, all you need is the Homebrew Channel installed. If you don’t have the Homebrew Channel installed you can follow my Installing the Homebrew Channel guide.
Here is a video showing you the Homebrew Browser in action:
Installing the Homebrew Browser:
- Download the latest version of the Homebrew Browser from here.
- Create a folder on the root of the SD card called ‘apps’ (if you don’t have that folder already).
- Copy the Homebrew Browser folder which you have downloaded to the apps folder.
- Launch from the Homebrew Channel.
Don’t forget you will need your WiFi connection switched on to use the Homebrew Browser.
Here are the controls you can use to navigate the Homebrew Browser:

Hi, I tried installing the homebrew browser and after loading for a while and connecting to my wi-fi it came up with this
Exception (DSI) occurred and then GPR00 to GPR31
Please help, thanks, Craig
Have you tried it a couple of times? Some times it takes more than once to get it installed.
Yes ive tried it a number of times and also ive tried deleting it from homebrew channel and deleting the files from my sd card and re-doing it but still the same. i have a cooling stand for the wii that plugs into the back of the console via usb could this be the problem? i googled my problem and someone mentioned this.
All I can say is try, I have never had this problem myself sorry.
Yes this was the problem it works perfect now, you cant have anything in the usb slots. Thanks for your help anyway mate
