Just a quick post to you all to let you know that a new version of the HackMii Installer has been released, v0.8 to be exact.
This new version now includes the Homebrew Channel v1.0.8 and BootMii beta 6 (v1.3) which is quite a surprise considering that the Homebrew Channel v1.0.7 was only released a few weeks ago.
The main reason for the release of the new Homebrew Channel v1.0.8 is the added support for USB 2.0 devices, meaning quicker loading times [...]

When it comes to softmodding, hacking and theming the Nintendo Wii I love it. As much as I try to stop changing things I just can’t seem to stop, but that means I get to share all the info with you guys.
While browsing various sites I cam across Crazy Intro a Homebrew Application for the Nintendo Wii which allows you to replace the health warning screen at startup with your own custom video. It can be anything you like as long as it is in .avi [...]

Well here we go again, a new softmod guide for the the 4.3 System Menu which was recently released.
I was waiting until now because I was waiting for the release of the new HackMii Installer v0.7b and Homebrew Channel v 1.0.7. This Homebrew Channel update stops the 4.3 System Menu from deleting it every time you restart your Wii.
This guide should be fairly easy to follow but make sure you fully understand the process before starting. It may also [...]

Great news for people who updated their Nintendo Wii to System Menu 4.3, a new version of the HackMii Installer has been released which installs the new Homebrew Channel 1.0.7 which is compatible with System Menu 4.3. This is probably what many people have been waiting for.
If you are running a System Menu lower than 4.3 there are some great bug fixes and feature changes so its still worth updating to the latest Homebrew Channel.
As most of you know [...]

DARKCORP (formerly known as cIOSCORP) for the Nintendo Wii allows you to load backup games directly from the Disc Channel exactly the same way you would load normal game discs.
This may not work with newer Nintendo Wii’s (unless you change the drive) as they simply cannot read DVD Discs.
The benefits of DARKCORP is the fact you do not have to open the console to chip it before you can play backup games, you simply install DARKCORP and that’s [...]

If you have softmodded your Wii you may be stuck with a Wii Shop Channel that needs to be updated before it will work. The problem with this is that it tells you to run the system update, which as you probably know will remove your softmod and homebrew files.
There is a way you can do this manually, which will only update your Shop Channel and not the systems firmware. I have only tried this on 4.2 though so it is up to you if you want to try it on [...]

As far as I am concerned I think it is a total waste of time updating your Nintendo Wii to the 4.3 Firmware if you have softmodded it. The only thing you will gain is support for a USB Camera (for Ubisoft’s Your Shape), the other only reason the 4.3 Firmware exists is to remove Homebrew Applications.
But if you still want to update to the 4.3 Firmware it is still possible using Firmware Updater v4.3. Some people like to have the latest firmware [...]

Well Nintendo have now released an update for the Nintendo Wii. The New System Menu 4.3 Update is causing all sorts of problems for owners of Softmodded Nintendo Wii’s. As a result of this I recommend you don’t update if you are using any softmods, including the Homebrew Channel as this is removed (if found) every time the Wii is booted.
Until the Homebrew Applications have been updated to work with the New System Menu 4.3 Update there [...]

Just a heads up to let everyone know that WAD Manager 1.7 has been released for the Nintendo Wii.
For people who don’t know what WAD Manager is it is an application that allows the (un)installation of packages in WAD format (homebrew and official packages). It allows the browsing of a storage device to work with the available WAD files in it.
Below you will find the changelog for WAD Manager 1.7, a copy of the Release Notes and a Download [...]
