A new feature has been found in Windows 7 over the last few days. The new feature is being called “God Mode” and is actually pretty handy for windows power users. The feature allows you to put shortcuts to all the Windows 7 control panels into one folder.
If you want to give it a try follow the simple instructions below and let us know how you get on.
To use this feature it is pretty straight forward:
- Create a new folder in Windows 7, this can be anywhere like the Desktop etc.
- Re-name the folder to “GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}”
- You can actually rename the GodMode part above to anything you want.
- That’s it you should now have a folder with all you computers control panels in.
Heres a screen shot of the Windows 7 God Mode Folder:

Brandon from Brandonlive.com had the following to say though:
“First, you’ve discovered a documented feature of the shell whereby filesystem folders can be easily made into namespace junctions, as described here on MSDN. Basically, any folder named . will show up with just the portion visible in Explorer, and navigating into the folder will take you to the namespace root defined by the portion of the name. The second thing you’ve discovered is the “All Tasks” folder. This is a special shell folder which is used as the source of the “Control Panel” search results seen in the Start menu.”
Tell us if this has worked for you, an what you think by posting below.
